2009 1198s caught fire last week

Hello all, I was riding last week, came to a stop and smelled smoke. I looked around and flames were coming from the area of my battery. After thorough inspection the cause of the fire is as follows. I installed a Shorai lithium battery and had a Shift-Tech carbon fiber battery bracket. The Shorai battery is much smaller than the stock battery and comes with foam to line the battery box to make up the size difference. The battery shifted in the box and the terminals came in contact with the battery bracket. Carbon fiber conducts electricity, bridged the terminals and caused the fire. Be extremely careful if you have these parts.

Mate, I'm hearing you!
Sorry to hear about this.
I had a problem with something electrical grounding on my carbon fairings.
It burnt a hole in the mid / lower intersection, and made the DZUS really farkin hot.
It's not comon, and not widely known, but CF conducts electricity very, very well.
Warning to everyone!
Cheers, and stay safe.
