Default K&N oil filter question

Sponsored Links
Good Morning Guys/Gals,

So here is my question.. i have a 07 1098 i was just about to do an oil change on my bike last night, when i noticed the K&N oil filter i had purchased had a pretty significant dent in the side of it. So instead of risking it i decided to go ahead an just purchase a new oil filter. i called MOTO FORZA in Escondido CA to purchase a new filter. when i explained my problem to him he told me that he does not recommend to use a K&N filter on the 1098 motor. the reason he said was that there have been multiple reports of 1098 motors blowing/ something going wrong and all of those motors had the K&N filters on them. Has anyone else ever heard of this? i have ran the K&N filter for 3000 miles and never had a problem...but once he told me this it made me think twice...

I've used K&N on 4 of my bikes for a combined K's of over 100,000 and no problems at all.

I sure hope he's wrong... I'm 5-6 oil changes and 20k in with the k&n filter. I may switch back to oem as thats what I normal use on vehicles. Just easier to get k&n where I'm at.

Who did you speak too at MotoForza? Ben, Kris, Balz? I highly doubt those guys would give you bad advice.

And for the record, I think there was an oil filter review on this website or one similar that tore down pretty much every aftermarket filter on the market and they were almost identical in terms of FILTERING THE OIL. Haha. I can't find the link but just google it. Tons of comparos.

might just be the sellers personal opinion, coincidence, or the fact that he wanted to sell you an OEM filter -

i talked to kris.. i have been going to these guys ever since i purchased the bike. they are AWESOME.. i trust them alot and for me thats were im going to spend my money.. so when they told me that they highly recomend not useing the K2N oil filter it def. threw a hurge red flag for me.. and well i changed it out ASAP. even if there are no problems at all with the filter i feel better taking the advice then having what he told me in the back of my head...

again the guys at moto forza are awesome im in no way shitty on them. they do great work.
