09 1198. Only 4,000 miles. Not abused. 40yr veteren rider. No clutch slip. Clutch does not engage until lever is almost completely out. Could plates be worn ALREADY? Or can this be adjusted out to engage sooner? Owned multiple bikes before. Second Ducati. So not from unnecessary clutch slippage or abuse. Thanks.

I'll bet you have air in your cluch release system. Fill and bleed it thoroughly.

It sounds fairly normal to me. Mine is fully disengaged at about 1/4 of the lever travel. The stock 26mm slave has a huge amount of pressure plate lift and if you have large hands, using a greater lever span there is even more travel. Try reducing your lever span or fitting a 30mm slave if you want to even it out.
