. The whole box is covered in dust, and there is a bunch of dirt with some pretty large granules about an 1/8" in diameter laying in the bottom of the box. The filter seemed to be installed correctly, but the filter doesn't seem to fit into the intake runners very tightly. Has anybody else had this happen to them? I know this was a problem with the 916s and 996s. Needless to say I was pretty pissed about all the dirt that has no doubt entered my engine, and what damage has all ready been done. Any ideas as to weather this could be a warranty issue. I'd really hate to get past my 2 year warranty and my bike start using oil or have poor compression due to this. Thanks for any input. Do you live in an area where it is dirty or dusty? When I pulled my airlifter the one time on my Honda after thousands of miles it looked brand new. I gave it a tap and reinstalled it.
I will not have a chance to look at my Ducati’s until I install the full exhaust shortly after the season starts. Jason

I'm talking about inside the box. Dirt that got past the filter. It has to be getting by the ends of the filter, where the filter fits in the intake runners. I live in Colorado, dustier than back east i guess, but that's not the issue. The issue is this bike is straight from the factory, and it shouldn't have any dirt in the air box, or inside my engine.

I think "1stduc" has a sandbox in his backyard, because i found alot of it in his airbox. Sorry "ant" just wondering if there are alot of you guy's with this same problem!
Oh! One more thing do not use a pressure washer to ever clean your bike the seal under the tank is not that great, found some bad new's there for my friend. Kind of unbelievable to think this doesn't seal the way one would think, maybe it's only a good seal if your on the gas! One thing about the air filer it had no oil on it to catch any of the dirt this could also be the problem!

Not with this bike but I've found gum wrappers and other strange debris in air boxes before.
Sounds like you just live/ride in a dusty area.
