The dealership tell me that the height of the ring is quite critical - ie. if fitting the CF keyguard has moved the position of the sensor lower (even by as little as 1mm!) it may cause the sort of erratic problems described in this thread. For my rubber ring, I found that a section of a Harley handgrip (remember they have larger dia. bars than everything else..) fitted just right. |

I just got this error yesterday at our lil track day out here. After running pretty hard for a few hrs, last two sessions I saw this error pop up. Bike still started though...... just the engine light stayed on fer a bit. /shrug. I need new tires and new brake fluids anyhow so ill have the dealership check it out @ same time.

I have been having the same issue. I washed my bike for the first time since installing a Bazzaz system and the immobilizer issue. I was assuming that some water got into one of the many plugs that came with that system. After talking to a Ducati mechanic he suggested disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours to get the system reset. It worked. A few months later I washed the bike for the second time and the problem reappeared. This time I looked for answers online and found this thread. So I removed the key guard slipped in the ring and the key without the key guard. She starts every time. reinstall the key guard and the darn Immobilizer turns on every time. Rechecked that there is no water between the two same thing. It is the original key guard by the way. Any suggestions ?

Yes its the ring under the key guard, it can fall or become lower than intended to read the key, I also have a issue with a new (old now) key. Reprogramming it worked for one go then the IMMO thingy showed up, I do alot of mono's, so I think I know who I effect mine.

I think the immobilizer system is completely retarded. If you are going to still my bike you are going to put it in the back of a truck or van and drive away. You are not going to try and jam something in the ignition to make it star. I wish I could just turn it off. Does any of the aftermarket ecu's allow you to disable it?
Water gets in mine and then I have to use the code. I am on my second one and hopefully it works for a while.
