The hairpin (turn 7) has eaten countless victims. Before they revamped the track, the backstraight was longer. That means having to brake from 290ish into the hairpin without runoff area. That was hair raising (pun!).
One guy had his race 996 throttle body stuck open (bolt falling into it) resulting in high speed overshoot there. He tumbled off but the bike carried on without braking. Rumours said the bike was spotted last week still roaming the antartic aimlessly scaring the penguins there, perhaps on its way to the South Pole.
