Default Tough time trusting my tires.

Just curious if anyone else has had any issues with their Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires and their ability to warm up. I have over 800 miles on the bike now and every ride it still feels loose after a good long ride in the canyons. I rode my 09 R1 with Pilot Powers and never felt as shaky as I do with the Pirelli's. Should I just lower the tire pressure a touch and give it a wirl? Any tips would be appreciated.

I have over 400 track and 4,000 street miles on my supercorsa SP's and just changed the front for the first time. Have you had the suspension setup yet on your bike? Describe what you mean by loose "after" a ride in the canyons. Track pressures should be 32 front and 28 rear when hot. What were you set at?

Another internet tire thread...

Those tires are the worst for street riding.
Their only purpose is to sell more Ducati body work when you throw your bike away.

But like every tire thread, there will be those who like and those who don't.
It really comes down to your location, your riding style and how comfortable you feel on a set of tires.

No one on the internet rides or will ride like you do, so this pretty much makes their opinion worthless.

No i havent had my suspension done yet, but I do plan to when I can get around to having it done. I run my tires 30 in the front and 32 in the rear. I'm 6 ft 2 inches and about 155lbs. During riding the front end feels real loose and shaky. Like I said I was used to running the pilot powers for 4 years before switching bikes/tires..so maybe I am just so used to that particular tire I just need some more time to get the feel for how these tires react to the roads here in central cali.

No problem here... I'm just paying attention to warm them up properly and then they're just sticking to the road... That said I'm 220lbs fully equipped with default suspension settings and default tyres pressure... (at the moment street riding only as I'm breaking the engine in...)

If you don't gel with the Pirelli's then switch back to what you like.
I've always run Michelins and I have great confidence in them although back in the day the Pilot Race's took a little while to warm up and were downright dangerous when cold!
I'm running Pilot Pure's (multi compound) on my 996 and love them.
Tyres are entirely a personal thing

The 848 does NOT like it if you have a death grip on the bars. It will want to run wide unless you ease way up on the bars. I needed to force myself to relax. Im using my legs and core to keep my body position in corners. The 848 also takes some muscle to get it to turn. My suggestion is like the others here, have your static sag and rider sag set FIRST. Have the tech take a LOT of rear spring preload out of it, especially if your only 155lbs. Start there. Tire pressures is kind of a subjective thing. When I had Pilot Powers, I was 36f 42r. That felt planted. With these SP's Im much lower in the rear....

Good luck!

adjust your suspension and you will be amazed on what it will do.. i was stuck at my local track running a certain time.. we adjust my suspension for me and i dropped 5 seconds that day. and i couldnt believe how much more grip my tires allowed after doing that.

you shouldnt be riding it yet then bub.

get sag set

and to do so you will need to get a softer spring
before you even start.

your tire pressures should be the oppposite
