Hi all can anyone help. I have a 998 bip 2002 and have to change the bottom end bearings and shim the crank. I have a 998 manual but it does not give me information on how to select the correct bottom end bearings.
The problem is that the colour marks on the bearings have washed off so I have no idea which bearings I have and need to select, ducati give 2 options "red or Blue". I have letters marked on the crank and rods, they are "A" con rods and a "B" crankshaft. Can anyone tell me how to tie these in to select the right colour codes for the bearing shells. I have plastiguaged and measured the crank and bearing clerances and they are all within tolerance. Does ducati have anything like the japenese manufacturers where they have tables which cross refrence the bottom end letters to the crankshaft letters so giving you the right colour for the bearing shell Also can anyone tell me the preload that should be on these cranks when assembling Thanks Ian
