Top Speed 748s

Hi

I have a 99/00 ducati 748s biposto i cant seem to go over 200km/h. Is there anything I can do to increase my speeding on these bike as a gsx-r 600 goes faster than me.

I dont recall if my 996 toped out around 130 miles but I put hi comp pistons chip and full exhaust and that woke the beast out of the box.
You can do that but, is expensive for what the outcome will be.
The older ducatis are much harder to put out more HP and Torque with minor adjustments you need to get in the engine and almost redo the motor.

The 748 should top out in the 147mph (236km/h) ballpark, depending on your front/rear sprocket setup. (A lot of owners go up a tooth or two in the rear for improved acceleration but lower top speed.) If I recall correctly, 200km/h (124mph) on my bike comes shortly after getting into fourth gear. I.e. ride third gear toward the top of the rev range (11,000+) - this is roughly 110mph and you're still accelerating pretty quickly here - , then shift into fourth and you'll get there soon enough.

If your bike is not accelerating past ~124mph, then you are probably either 1) In the wrong gear (5th or 6th) or 2) Your gearing (f/r sprockets) is skewed very far toward acceleration (unlikely), or 3) your engine is not producing the power that it should.

What gear are you in at your top speed, what are your revs at that speed, and what gearing/gear changes did you use to get there?

Thanks for replies. De Motu I will try and change gears at hi-revs and see what outcome will I get as I usually shift my gears at about 9000rpm's

of course a GSXR600 is faster than you lol...it's a faster bike. it doesn't matter when you change gears, you can have it in 6th while going 60 mph and if you open up the throttle all the way it will get to its top speed eventually (it just takes longer). And its top speed should be pretty close to what De Motu said.

why do you wanna go faster than 125 mph anyway??

I'm always the last even in the track so I thought maybe there's something wrong with my Duc. I've decided to get a 1098s

Selbitz is not a matter of not knowing to ride or not, if I put my bike on 6th gear and open the throttle it should give me it's top speed whether I push my rpm or not
