Installed axle and frame sliders. These Speedymoto's get way out there, nice protection.
Also stole Sedici's idea and covered up the battery. This was a fun project and makes a better streetbike for me:)

I actually like the 999 nose over the rest of the Ducati line. It's what makes the bike visually unique in the world of generic look alikes. Its my favorite Ducati look of them all.
On the 999 "Motard" its perfect.

I saw the post about the MTS1000S triple being used but cant find one that has the mount for the steering damper. All of the MTS triples i look at from the MTS1000 series ('04 to '06) don't have the same mount on the back.

Would Helibars / FBF bars work on the stock forks or not enough for a more upright Motard position ?
Perhaps a compromise between full Ducati clips ons and a Bolted handlebar ?

oldskool63 April 26th, 2012 08:53 AM

Heli bars would just give a little more comfort than stock set-up. I had a Speedymoto triple that gave a 20mm rise, but that's it.

The bike now feels completely different. Like a motard on steroids. I can stick a leg out in the tight stuff and it's a totally natural feeling. Way more control at slower speeds, but not sacrificing handling on fast sweepers.

Believe me, I was a bit hesitant to start hacking on my bike. It was pretty mint, and I wasn't sure what obstacles I would run in to. But in the end, best thing I could have done for my kind of riding.

Why not just buy a Hyper or a streetfighter? Well, because anybody can do that:)

I like it, i dont think i wouldve done that to a real R, but it looks good. It would be better if you could find another place for that battery, to keep it out of sight.

hey what headlight assembly is that? and how you mount it? ima do a similar project to my 06 749...

oldskool63 June 12th, 2012 10:03 PM

It's a UFO Stealth. Mounts with rubber straps. Good luck with the bike and post up some pics as you go.

I like these projects, but how come nobody put a round headlight more cafe style? Maybe a monster style light?

Narley August 3rd, 2012 11:17 PM

What would you guys use I want a straight bar on my 05 749?
Is the monster triple tree bolts on the 749? Maybe the street fighter clamps?
Please help trying to get it done asap and want to know which top triple to buy

oldskool63 August 29th, 2012 12:07 PM

If I remember correctly, the Multi triple is a direct bolt-on. That was one of my biggest hurdles. Good luck, keep us posted.

All i know is...you guys did save the 749/999 by doing this conversion yourselves...
For OP, wow, at first I was like "WTF" and after you posted the new color scheme..I was like "Damn he did hell of a job."
The 749/999 series now look so much better :yo:

Amazing bike OldSkool. Hope to see you around town. Btw, I like the Husaberg touch. Last time I saw your berg it was pulling away from my monster in the corners. That was a good day.

hmmmmm now this looks cool. i'll have to look into this for my 05 749 since come of the plastics are cracked already.

Overall, nice work and execution.
Especially the SS over flow bottle & Gauge mount.
IMO, you lost the balance needed from the front end.
Tail section is too big for a lean mean street fighter.
