Where do you figure the 1199 Panigale S will stack up after all the routine bugs are worked out of it?

Just throwing this up on the wall to see what sticks.

BMW S1000RR, Aprilia RSVR, Kawasaki ZX-10R, Honda CBR 1000RR are the top tier, followed by Yamaha R1, KTM RC8 and Suzuki GSXR 1000.

I think the Panigale will be just short on ultimate speed and acceleration vs the BMW, but will be right there with the ZX-10R and ahead of all the others. I think the Panigale has the potential to be the best handling of all of them and the fastest around the track.... The 2012 BMW S1000RR was just tested vs all the others by Motorcyclenews and was 2 SECONDS a lap faster than all the others!!! The changes from my 2011 to the 2012 seem to have made a pretty decent difference.

I have ridden ALL of the bikes I listed above, except the KTM and the BMW is just a monster... it's why I bought it over the Aprilia, which I HAD gone into the dealership to buy... after a back-to-back test ride of the Aprilia and the BMW, I chose the BMW.

It's funny that people seem to like to toss the phrase "bugs worked out" like company's don't spend a few years developing a product before even the spy photo's are seen. This phrase came up when the 848 first came up that people would wait till the 2009 848 so Ducati could work the bugs out of it.

The Panigale is the culmination of a few years of research and devlopment. It will progress as anything in life does but it's first year will be as good as the first year the 916 came out or the first year the 999 came out or the first year the 1098 came out. It'll smash em all.

Bmw is gng to be a hard bike to beat, too bad it looks like absolute shyte. Mopped a few up on the track w my 1098s.. fat old farts didn't want to play...

Zx10, gah... been down that road, still handles like a bag of ass.

Gsxr...yawn...

R1..ass kicking handling n a great motor, it just needs some hp.

Aprilia..ehhhh, it mite blow up but it sounds cool.

Cbr..fast, nimble, kinda blah tho

Ktm.. spent a day on the track w one, my outdated 1098s would put a hurting on the 2011 ktm I flogged.. felt very zx10ish in handling...like it wanted to kill me.

1199.. not a fucking clue.

Fella's;

Haven't seen one in the real world, but the magazine world is going ga-ga over the just released Kwaker 14R. Insane amounts of hp propells it into the 9's as a bone-stock bike that weighs around 550 lbs. Not a track bike by any means, but it supposedly makes the Hayabusa look like a weak sister.

Nice feedback, guys. I agree with the handling of the R1...surgical precision. Gobs of HP avail with a re-flash...runs like a raped ape!

Drooling to try the BMW...better wait till after the 1199 show up or I'll end up buying it also

Have dreamed of the Aprilia but all of the questionable reliability comments have me a little afraid of committing.

"Working the bugs out" was just a bad choice of words on my part. I am sure this 1199 will be a beast right out of the box.

Theyre all pretty fricken good, I think it all depends on what you want out of it and how much your willing to cough up!

Im not sure its fair to compare a 14g sport bike with a 20 g sport bike, performance is pretty close. The difference is detail and quality of parts. if I really wanted the fastest production bike out there id be trading in and buying a new bike every month!
Ducati black likes this.

the buell is nice. looks like they will be bringing out cheaper models later. probably just wanted to get the race version homologated for the season first. frankly, with so many ducati superbikes on the road these days, owning that buell will definitely put you in an exclusive group.
