I rode around all day on my xb9 its a great scooter I wouldn't go so far as to say its a motorcycle tho! The engine is nice and torquey its easy to ride in low gear and it chugs along happy in all gears, I can't say the same for my 1098. Why they bother putting sport fairing on these lumps is beyond me, if they marketed them as easy to ride scooter alternatives I think they could have stayed in business!

Buell did stay in business. Eric Buell used to work for Harley and created the Buell under Harley's supervision and financial backing. Eric wanted to create a superbike worthy of competing in AMA and Harley did not want to support the effort. Long story short, Harley dropped the Buell, Eric went off on his own and two years ago created his own company EBR (Eric Buell Racing) and has an EBR1190 racing in AMA superbike series. He has since received a podium once this year and in Laguna Seca placed 4th.

So needless to say, it still isn't a production bike yet and still in the r&d stages BUT the Buell will be back in business soon and there will finally be an American made superbike out there to compete!!!

Actually the EBR 1190 is a production bike (based on what you consider production). They made 100 of them which I think was the minimum set by AMA rules in order to compete. Since they only made 100 that's also why the price is so high on them. If they figure out and invest a lot to where they can mass produce it efficiently the price could easily drop under $25k, or even under $20k.
