The other Day on my Way to work the instrument cluster shut off without warning but the bike continued to run just fine. I got to work shut it off and then immediatly started it up with no problems. I left came back after a few hours and tried to start it and nothing. I can hear the fuel pump Kick on but can't get anything else. I've checked everything I could think of fuses wires relays and nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated.

New member here. I am looking at a new bike and I was initially drawn to a new Ducati for the 1199. But, that's for another thread...

I phoned a dealer who is fairly close and inquired about the 1199, we went back and forth on when stock would arrive and such. He then let me know that he had an 11 1198sp in Black left over. He offered it to me for $18,995.

What do you guys think of the price, is that a fair price for that model?

are the standard pitfalls prevalent to the 1098's that I should be considering prior to finalizing my decision?

a list of your common issues would be greatly appreciated

Well my 1198 arrived 2 weeks ago and it has rained 98% since. Been out during the 2% though plus a first ride in some of the 98% which wasn't much fun.

Gear box very stiff. Can live with that but the DP rear sets no matter which way I adjust mean that the shift lever is more or less level with the peg. Meaning not much leverage (not the telly programme) for upshifts. In fact until I made a fix I had to use my hip to shift up!!

Best way I have been able to do it is by moving the lever that bolts onto the gear change spindle back towards the peg meaning the change lever rotates forwards making the foot shifter lower than the peg. Not very much I have to say. I pretty much have to take my foot off the peg to downshift, just to get my toe above the shifter.

Now my question. I would prefer the change lever on the gear box spindle to be vertical rather than rotated backwards 15degrees. As it was when it arrived basically.

To my question. If I can get a new rod end for the shaft, at the rear end, not the gear spindle end, and the new rod end is longer than the stock piece then i can solve all my problems.

Anybody done this? I located a company in cranleigh Surrey nr my place who sell these. But do any of you lot have the same issue and if so how did you solve it? The bike was a damn sight easier to get in and out of neutral when the spindle lever was dead vertical below the spindle and not rotated back 15 degrees.

The bike has the speedcell battery and is fully charged up runs grate but lately has been turning over a few times then the starter spins off and just spins freely and now it will only turn over once or twice then the starter will spin freely. does this mean my starter clutch has went out?

Hey im looking for fork seals for my base model 1098 the right fork seal is leaking pretty bad now where can i get a set of seals?

What's a 1098 (regular version) worth these days? A tad over 20,000 miles, Leo Vince exhaust, STM slipper clutch, CF front & rear fender, brand new Rosso Corsa's, brand new clutch/sprockets. Sargent & stock seat. Stock suspension with GP internals. Not perfect but nice & clean condition . . . Trying to find out what I can ask for . . .

Ive been trying to pick up a full Termignoni exhaust and recently one seller mentioned that his set had the "gen2 straight belly pipe, not the gen1 which breaks." Google and forum searches havent turned up anything. As far as I know the only changes made to the Termignoni full exhausts was the change from the long canisters to the shorter canisters around 2010. Has anyone else heard of a change to the other exhaust piping?

Hi all

Going to replace my timing belts today (5+ years old, but only 4k miles!). I failed to order the fuji nuts along with the belts though. :(

Can I re-use the existing fuji nuts? The belts have never been changed (or adjusted?) on this bike previously.

Alternatively, it looks like Lowe's sells these 8mm x 1.25 nyloc nuts. Will the nylon hold up under the heat of the engine or am I risking it?

Another 3,000 miles, time for a routine oil change right? I go through the usual steps, and when it comes time to take off the old filter, this is what I get:





Old filter is of course on the right. It looks like it decided to take some sort of coupler with it. I've tried using a 21mm socket on a torque wrench to remove the coupling from the old filter, but it won't budge. I ended up stripping the hell out of the nut on the bottom of the oil filter itself in these attempts, but the nut portion of the coupler itself is still fine. Has anyone had this happen before?

Anyone else with a 1198 experience the DTC and clock not keeping their settings?

loved the 848 so much had to go get the 1198s its a used 2010 but only had 1200 miles.
