I've had mine on the insides of the fairings, in front of the dash and now attached to the airbox. I like the airbox area the best for ease of install and running the wires. All three places no problems at all.

Its more the air runners than the actual box. I have a pic in my thread with the 35w hid install. I currently have them zip tied underneath cause I thought they where rattling, ended up being the chain. I also figured air moving thru the runners would be enough to keep the ballist at a good temp.

Just finished installing the 55W 6000K kit. Install was pretty straightforward - had to shave down one of the tabs on each bulb for proper fit. Mounted the ballasts inside the fairing with some extremely heavy duty double sided tape (stuff says "PERMANENT" outdoor tape on the roll with a red backing - based on tugging on it, I'm pretty sure they mean it).

Tested the lights every step of the way to make sure I didn't have to take anything apart again. Very happy with the result - noticeable tinge of blue to the lights. MUCH brighter. The guys at Gotham were very helpful. Ordered on Sunday - rec'd the kit today (Thursday). No complaints at all!

finally got to install the kit, looks great!... only question is, in your photo did you have a matching bulb that's in the rectangular portion of the headlamp or is it the stock amber bulb
