Default HDR photos

I've been experimenting with High Dynamic Range (HDR) and tone mapping photography lately.
Some interesting results follow.

Any tips and pics from others would be appreciated.

Pics look great to me Todka, but I'm no professional. I just know what I like when I see it.

The second one (up against a stone wall) is my favorite. Great job. Wanna come shoot mine now.

Where do you live? It looks beautiful. Second pic is awesome. Are these effects a setting on your camera or an editing program you are using?

I like the 2nd one a lot also. I think that one will head for the printer.

CattainD, the last 3 pictures are from the great ocean read, west of Melbourne, Australia. The first one is off a side road on the puttty road, west of Sydney.
HDR is a software processing technique that blends a few photos into one. Take the same picture at multiple exposures and process. There are lots of options to select when processing. Im new to this.

Any one else into this? Quarantine, sound like you might be. Care to share some? Doesn't have to be of bikes...

Todka, if you have a higher res photo of the second one and wouldn't mind sharing it for a personal collection, let me know.

Doooooooood...very awesome. I just got into this and am currently reading a book on it. What software do you use for your merging? I have CS4 but am thinking about getting Photomatix as it merges a little differently. I'll upload some when I have time to resize em.

Hey there Viper.
Photomatix. Plenty of buttons to play with. All pics were hand held, and I used the "Match features" setting to allign. The last pics is processed with exposure blending instead of HDR.
Camera was a 5D mk11 on JPG setting, with exposure bracketing at -2, 0, +2.
Ideally according to the book, you use a tripod, RAW, and maybe a range that includes a few extra stops each side. My camera won't bracket that easily, but hey, seems to work OK anyway. Love to see your pics when done.

Cheers,

One out the window of a C182 flying past the 12 Apostles rocks (same area as the bike pics), and one of the plane at the Warnambool airfield.

(PS, you really should secure your maps and flight plan BEFORE you open the window...... D'Oh! )
