Default The New 1100 EVO Monster

Does anyone own the new 1100 EVO, If so, what type of After Market Exhaust have you installed
and did it require replacing the stock ECU for the Racing ECU. I know the Termignoni comes complete with everything.
I ran into this problem with my 696 when I decided to go with the Two Brothers Exhaust, had to get the Racing ECU.

It's geared super tall...went down 1 on front sprocket...needs more...maybe 2 up in back later on....suspension rebound has been put all the way out in back and is still sluggish...no compression adjustable in back so have to stiffen up front to match the ride in back...may make a stiffer ride.....basicly suspension is a trade off...have to adapt one to match the other on rebound and then the same on compression...being more of a street bike than a track bike who wants to correct issue and invest money for aftermarket products.....same way with my new 11/10r Kawasaki, front fork is great ,rear shock is a total mismatch.....go figure

just turned 1300 miles on mine.....it is very high geared and I will probrably change the sprockets...suspention is a little stiff for my likes, will be playing around with adjustments this weekend...very light bike, i really like the ergonomics, I had a 2003 BMW R 1150 R before the Monster....the traction control is a really nice feature....I am very pleased with the EVO

I agree, I only have 300 or so miles on mine but I think it would definitely benefit from going down 1 tooth on the front sprocket. Ergos are great, suspension is stiff over rough roads though. I plan on taking it in and having some help me set the suspension up for me.

Other than that it seems to run really lean, I get popping under decel and it surges and hesitates when cold at low rpms.

This is my third bike and my first Duc. I've ridden a few Ducatis, a Monster 1100 S, a '07 S4R, and a GT1000.

14T front sprocket should be the first "mod" for any city rider.

sprocket center has 14T in stock and has quick delivery....I let my friend ride my new Monster and he thought my old hyper was stronger....I'm hoping this 10hp more

monster gets it's act together and breaks in stronger than my old hyper 90 horse

After 4 sessions with muffler removed and 2 trips to Home Depot I finally drilled and drilled and then drilled some more, with needle nose plyers in hand have removed all traces of the cat.inside the exhaust on the new 2012 monster 1100 evo....you must purchase the 12" ext. for drill bits and had the best luck with the 3/8th. pointed like an arrow wood bit. It's not a job for the faint of heart...initially had drilled a section to allow the exhaust to flow thru an area of the cat but wanted to totally remove it all....you end up with a mass of tangled metal that you have to work towards the entrance of the muffler neck with crow bars ect. so you can grab a bit and remove...once you get some out it gets a little easier ....removed the exhaust silver tip/and aluminum sleeve, painted the muffler black and installed with a couple extra washers on top 2 fasteners...love it's look, looks like the exhaust on the space shuttle now with the twin cones showing now. When mufflers become available,it will be much easier to purchase of course but was bored and impatient with the quiet exhaust...if I continue to be happy with this muffler all I have to do is have Pro Italia remap the ecu for $250. These bikes run like crap down low.....

thats funny...not much on how to post pics here but if I take pics of the bruises on my legs and feet from the flat wood bits grabbing while inadvertainly hitting the always on button on my drill motor and having the exhaust start spinning wildly ....would that suffice...do not try this at home .....This thing is starting to break in and becoming more and more fun to scoot around town with...like it better than my new zx10r,which sits under a cover...although nice but a different kind of fun......actually a brutal beast that'll hurt you if your not careful

after removal of cat membrane in the entrance to muffler was still not happy with the improved sound and so took muffler back off and grabbed a 2 1/2 '' black plastic oil filter wrench,,,sawed it with a carborundom blade designed for concrete all the way thru just off from center, then made another cut thru the other half off from it's center leaving a half in gap when installed over exhaust header where old exhaust was mounted....so now you have a slot for an exhaust...my first thought was I may need to widen the slot but when I started it up Holy Mother of God this thing sounds just like a Harley with a straight pipe....love it,so now people will know there is a motorcycle along side of them on the highway...oh yea did I mention weight savings...guess about 10lbs....after use the slot has melted to become a big hole....all that hot air has literally blown a hole the size of the pipe...maybe a soup can is the answer, better yet put the exhaust back on until I can think of something more durable..
