Hey guys how's it going!

Joined up ages ago on this site but never really got involved as I was only on my learners bike, Kawasaki Ninja 250R, and have always wanted to upgrade to a Ducati as soon as I was legally allowed to!

2 years have now passed and in that space I've had many a good time with the little Ninja (track days/superbike school and many, many, many great rides) and have even added a CBR600RR race bike to the garage which has given me the taste for power and speed and I have to say I'm hooked! Never had that feeling before since I first hit my firs big mountain snowboarding!

Have had my eye on the 848 ever since I started riding and once the 848EVO came out in that matte white with red frame I knew I had to have one!

So the time has come (Well April 12th is my official first day as a fully licensed rider) to upgrade my road to something I've been wanting for what feels like forever!

So yeah just thought I'd say hi and for all you old heads to go easy on the young new kid on the block! Hope to enjoy some stories and rides with you in the very near future!

Welcome, congrats on the new bike. You should check out the Australia section of the forum. Lot of good guys down there (it can get a little rough in there sometimes).

Welcome TR, sounds like you have the passion/addiction already. Consider us your support group to assist you with that addiction. Many of us here are adept at suggesting those personalising mod's that will empty your bank account as you pamper your new mistress with 'jewelry' . You will understand soon enough. Enjoy the ride!!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Only been riding bikes for 2 years now, started off with the 250R Ninja in 2010 and then bought a CBR600RR Race bike last year which I absolutely love! Defiantly a track rat to the core! :P

Went out and bought a Ducati shirt and when ever I jump on the bike it's always comes with me, so it has seemed to have sufficed until the days comes for me to buy a 848!

Was considering holding out for the rumored 799 Panigale, but to be honest I would much rather and tried and tested bike that is a few years into it's development cycle than something that is fresh and new and could have a couple of niggling issues. Means I can just jump straight to a 1199 Panigale when the time comes anyway!

Yes, I've already browed the ProItalia store and I think the amount of modifications I selected came out to be more than the actual bike itself, the joys of owning a bike. It's basically having a child!

I'll still go out and test ride a bunch of 600s, namely the 675R as that is another bike that I have high praise for, but my heart is always drawn back to the 848, it's just a glorious piece of machine and by the sounds of it is the bike that most suits my riding style, aggressive.... Only thing I have to remember is not to be too aggressive starting off, I learnt that on the CBR when I treated it like my 250 and chopped the throttle mid corner and then powered on while leaning.... Not the best idea unless you enjoy lowsliding through the corner and watching your bike flip over like a pancake..

Only issue I have now is figuring out a name for the bike once it arrives! hah

The Ducati will certainly teach you some things about throttle control TR. The strong torque and early delivery typical to the Ducati twin makes for a Very Responsive throttle. Keep in mind it's not entirely about the ride either, some of it is about how the bike you choose makes you feel each time you see it in the garage.

None of mine have names... if they did I would have to try and remember them.

Hahah yeah I already know all about the power delivery which is one reason which I love them.

Don't you worry ELTWIN that's the other reason I've bought her, nothing would make me more happy than opening the garage, turning the corner in the street or just kicking back having a beer and seeing a white 848evo sitting there gracefully and thinking to myself, "OH! That's right, that baby is mine!" :P

congrats on (nearly) having your full licence. I know it's hard but my advice is wait till you have your full licence THEN go bike shopping. no point going now as being on your P's you cannot ride anything remotely fast.

Once you get that full licence you can browse a few dealers and test ride your little heart out on a new CBR1000RR, BMW S1000RR, Triumph 675R (very cool bike with some nice bits on the R), and of course the lovely 848 EVO (maybe even try a 1098/1198?).

seriously, I know April is 3 months off but buying a bike before you can legally test ride is not the way to go.

just avoid all bike shops and internet for 3 months and then let the fun begin!
