Default About to buy a 1999 900ss, need advice

I am thinking about purchasing a 1999 900ss in yellow with the full fairing. There is a shop that is local to me that has one new still in the crate for $7500.00. Is that a good deal for a still crated model? Also, do any manufactures still make aftermarket parts for this bike? I looked for exhausts (The main thing I want to change) but couldn't find anything. Am I stuck to going the used market route? Any advice would be appreciated!

where are you?

if you're in oz it's still high because it still needs tyres and belts.

if you're in USA than it's due for the same stuff but twice it's value..

who else has dollars..

lots of new parts aftermarket..

but you better tell everyone where you are and intro yourself

Default Exhausts

Aftermarket exhaust systems are almost impossible to find for this model (I am looking too). About the only solution is to haunt ebay and the forums and hope to find some one parting out an old track bike. Pretty much everything else is readily available. If you find a source, let me know.

You can core the stock cans, but if you do, you will certainly want to get a Power Commander or the software to reset the FI trim. They are set pretty lean from the factory and anything that increases flow only aggravates the problem. Even a K&N filter will make it really lean out and kill throttle response.

The Power Commander lets you reset the trim to correct the mixture. It is the best $250 I have spent on mine. Far more bang for the buck than simply installing a set of slip ons!

There is a guy on one of the other forums that is sniffing around to see if there is a market for some reverse cone megaphone systems he has built. I have never heard of him and have no idea whether or not he knows what he is doing, but the idea is interesting.

Good luck!
