They have a fine thread and must be heated prior to being removed. This is an act that should be done with caution as pulling threads off is a very easy maneuver.
Beside the fact, the cost of radial lowers is more than just buying radial forks from an 1198. I bought mine with Traxxion cartridges for my weight on fleabay for $620 shipped. The lowers are $800 by themselves and then you have to do the work, including the cost of the fork rebuild kit.

hmmmm. food for thought there. i picked up a cbr1000rr set of forks and triples. they fit swell but i need to make a wheel spacer to fit the std tokico honda brakes. The brembos are different between the caliper mount holes... I would love to keep the brembos but would have to swap the staunctions..... ill post what im doing now in a seperate post....... thanks for the input.

got one staunction off the damaged ducati fork today. quite easy just using a vice and a heat gun. next wil be to remove the cbr ones carefully without damaging the legs... hope this works as i really wish to keep the brembo brakes...

Japanese bikes run a 108mm spaced caliper and the Italians run 100mm. Just and FYI. Brembo make their calipers in both if you ever want to upgrade.
As 1fast pointed out, the stanchions are as much as you could source out a good pair of forks for and the labour to change em over can get up there also.
