Figured you guys would like to have something to look at. I know it sweatens up the thread ![]() I threw in one with the Ducati Indoor dust cover. I think its really nice for 88 bucks. Its like Pajamas for your bike.

Some will correct me if I'm wrong for sure, but those look like the Akra mufflers that were built specifically for the 1098R.
The Akras I thought you had and the ones I have installed on my bike are these: ![]() The mufflers have the noise dampers (DB killers) installed. Here are the mufflers on a full system that shows the noise dampers removed:

Yes you are correct. They are from a 1098R. They say Ducati and Akrapovic on them. I got them for 400 bucks plus shipping. I figured it was cheap enough to pic them up.
Sorry that I did not clarify that specifically. I was confused at first what I was getting also. But I figured Titanium Akras! 400 bucks... Why not? Might even be considered a score of sorts for Ducati purists. What do you think?

They definitely look like the db killers are still installed unless on the 1098r akras they are not removable.I'm not familiar with these I have the carbon fiber ones. Check the bottom of the exhaust tips. There should be a hole for an Allen wrench to remove the bolt holding the db silencers in. If there's no bolt there not removable.

Yup, they definitely still have the silencers in. The only way to get those out though are by cutting them out. I've done it three times to the stock exhausts. (Not the 1098R exhaust like yours)
Requires some dremeling, but once those silencers are out...HOLY SHIT! What a noise difference! |

It's also possible that as being a stock muffler even for the R, they may have cats in them as per EU spec.

Yep......they still had the cats for emissions. Essentially they are a stock type muffler made of Ti.

Check out the default dyno charts on Akra's website. The full set puts out more peak HP way up in the revs, and only a couple more. What it loses is power in the usable range, with that huge dip where the valve and ECM changes over. Slip-ons were the way to go. |
