Default Tire cost/mounting

Need a rear for my 09 1198. About how much should a Supercorsa cost including mounting? Or how much should an authorized Ducati dealer charge to mount if I choose to go the mailorder route on a set of Michelin dual-compounds? Thanks for your suggestions.

Every dealer is a different deal.
depends where you are at...
Ducati Bellevue sell's pirelli's supercorsa around $175 plus $30 install on or off the bike.
They are also a motorcycle superstore premium install dealer and you can purchase their tires and have them shipped to Ducati Bellevue for mounting same price...

Talk to your dealer and negotiate a price ahead of ordering tires.

The experience of being charged a corkage fee when you bring your own bottle to a restaurant and has now, it seems, been extended to the vehicle repair industry.

Since repair shops make a considerable portion of their profit from the sale of replacement or performance parts, now when you supply your own parts, shop owners insist on charging you an additional fee beyond their standard labor charge.

This means, of course, that you’ll need to install them yourself, which means that you’ll often need some special tools and diagnostic equipment. Otherwise, you’ll end up paying a good portion of any cost savings on parts back to the repair shop.

When you buy the parts from the repair shop you often will be quoted the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try to negotiate.)

It’s a messy situation for both the owner and the shop, and I have to admit to being both angered and sympathetic to both parties in this situation.

Profit on tires and spare parts keep your local Ducati dealer in business. Consider carefully if this is where you want to save money.

I replaced my OEM Pirelli SupercorsaSPs with the same (because they are a great tire!) but the rear tire itself is right at $300 from my dealer, Redline Perf Motorsports in Yorktown, VA. However, they have finally convinced me to replace the crazy costly Pirellis with Michelin Power Pures. They buy them in bulk quantities and can sell you a set (front and rear) balanced and installed on the bike for $300. The tires are current dates as well, not old hardened aged-out crap you get from most "discount" sales. You can't beat their deal anywhere for such a great tire, so they sell a ton of them.

I now have the Pures on both my bikes and they are GREAT!

I have been close friends with Dave for over a decade and bought my Tri Color there, and the 1198 Corse before than. I know they are big on the Michelins and used to like them years ago, but have no idea of what these Pures are all about. They DEF change the geometry of the tire since they have a taller profile. You didnt have any adjustment period coming off the Pirelli's?
Heading down there this coming Sat for my first service and to install ALL the DP carbon, windshield, and DP fender eliminator- so its gonna be a big day for sure. Think I am bringing a fellow member / S owner with me so maybe you can meet up over there so I can see them on your bike? Love to see them mounted instead of piled up in every corner of the store! -lol

Send me a PM with your name and contact info bro?

Default Tires

I could care less about post count. I posted in different areas to get a broader response. MOST replys were very helpful. My only posts have been inquiry's on bike maintenance or upkeep. Thanks. By the way...STFU.
