Default two questions- valves and serv light

I have a 2008 848

first question: I serviced my bike but the light on my odometer still comes on saying, "SERVE". How do I reset it and turn off this reminder?

second question: I'm at 7800 miles and did the service to my bike, but I was wondering how important it was to get the valves adjusted on my bike? and if and when you guys recommend to get them adjusted?

1- You either get the dealer to do it...or get the software to do it yourself.....there is no magic sequence to removed....third option live with it

2- You should get them check at the very least the belts should be change!

Here you go. I've shared this with many forum members.
The basic VDST program should run you somewhere from $200-250 to clear your CEL and reset the TPS.
There is a tuneable version on Desmotimes.com
Depends on how you ride, I changed my belts when I did my early 15k service (12k+street miles and at 7 trackdays at the time) Your valves should be in specs, but checking them when you have time is ok too (if you have time and some tools)

The problem with getting someone like a dealer to remove your 'SERV' logo is that they are supposed to do so only when they have carried out the proper service.
Or as suggested above, you buy the VDST cable kit and do it (and the servicing) yourself. You really need to go one way or the other, from your point of view as well as the dealer's.
The valves will probably be 'within spec' at that mileage, and the dealer will charge you a lot to dismantle and measure to tell you this, without actually improving anything.
I set them all at an ideal clearance, as opposed to the wide range specified for these models, which has seen me replacing 12-13 of the 16 shims on most 848/1098/1198s I have serviced at this mileage. If this is done they stay at that optimum setting for a long time.
Probably a bit anal, but it can't hurt, and mine runs sweetly after a high mileage.

Actually on my first service on my Corse I had to reset the 'service' myself since they didn't have the right software and the clock was ticking meaning I was paying and nothing was getting done, so I just told them nevermind I have what it take at home....

I also always removed my fairing so I don't get charge and they are safe at home.....

Try Ducatidiag (google search). You can download software (for free) that you can use to reset the service message. You will need to buy a couple of cables to connect the laptop the bike's service port (about 35 bucks).
