Frequently Asked Questions - Great Place for New Members To Start

This will be for questions that have become common on this forum. It will be a great place to refer new members to, as well as members that ask questions that make you go "not again". And remember new guys, when in doubt, search before you start a new topic

Let's try to keep it simple. If you have an idea, PM me the question that would be asked, then link a page that answers it or answer it, in detail, yourself. I will then copy it below. This will keep everything organized and clutter free. I will thank all contributors ahead of time to keep the general talk out. Let's keep making this forum informative and enjoyable, as it has always been. Please Do not add a post or reply directly to this page. I will add questions once I have received the message.

Thank you.

- Michael

This has been stickied to the 1198/1098 and the 848 forums. Big thanks to Alvin.

12. How can I setup my suspension for my style of riding?

A.
Start by contacting a local suspension guru. Or give Dan Kyle a call. Discuss with them what you are looking for out of your bike and suspension and ask them to recommend a set-up. Once you have an detailed idea of what you are looking for (i.e. spring rates, internals, rear shock) search the forum. There is a pot 'o gold worth of suspension info on this forum.

13. My bike broke down. What should I do?

A.
Contact your local dealer and Ducati Roadside Assistance.

14. When should I get my bike serviced? What will it cost?

A.
Dealership service intervals are basically broken down like this:

600 miles, 7500 miles, 15000 miles. These are required for your warranty work. Your bike will still need to have an oil and filter change every 3500-4500 miles, depending on use. You can do this yourself, or have a dealer to it. It will cheaper at the dealer if you strip all the fairing yourself and truck the bike down there. When in doubt, refer to your owner's manual or contact your dealer.

Could this be updated for newer owners of the 1098 series?

Red_Sonja December 26th, 2018 01:03 PM

Please update for newer owners. There are still some of us that purchase older Ducati's just because it's what we can afford. And we like the looks and less electronic aids and complexity !!!
