1198s DTC and DQS questions.

Hay there all, I just picked up an 09 1198s and in the corse of learning the gauges and the like. i noticed there's no DTC showing on the gauge. I went through the procedure for activating it but there's no call for it in the menu. i checked and the init is there mounted in the rear cowl and it is connected and the front and rear sensors are working. also checked the ecu and its stock as far as I can tell. With key on the dash reads SBK 1198 TSE. Is there something Im missing? also does the 09 come with the DQS as standard and if so where is the connector for the harness to see if one was installed. the shift rod dosn't look stock so i was wondering...also where is the lap sensor located?
I know this is a lot but Id like to get an heads up before i get into it and possibly mess something up. Thanks in advance..

In regards to the DQS....it was not available on 2009 1198S. It was only available on 2010 1198S Corse, 2010 1198R and 2011 1198SP.
The DTC was standard equipment on 2009 1198S and you should be able to turn it on through the menu functions on your dash. First it needs to be turned on, then you can set the DTC levels from 1 to 8.
If you lack DTC option in the dash menu on your bike, then I suspect you might have incorrect ECU for your bike, or your bike is just a base 1198 model.
Some one correct me if I'm wrong, but should't the dash read SBK 1198S TSE for the stock ECU on the 1198S?

Here is the link to the 2009 1198/1198S owners manual if you do not have one. It might help you to figure out how to turn the DTC on.

P.S. Post some pictures of your bike!

Thanks Dnepr. I found a connector and it matches the wiring diag. for the QS off the DTC. but there was a plug in the connector so I think your right that it wasn't on originally. as fotr the dash, the welcome is SBK 1198 TSE and the ECU has 1198S on the sticker. It's leading me to belive someone has reflashed it with a stock 1198 map. I just have to find if the 1198 had the DTC option. If not then that's why there is no DTC in the menu.

The base 2009 1198 did not have DTC. For the 09MY it was only available on 1198S and 1098R. Your options would be to find correct stock ecu if your exhaust is stock or DP performance ecu if you have full or slipon Termignoni or reflash yours.

Well I'm going to try and use Tuneecu to reflash the ECM with the stock mapping for the 1198s to get back the DTC but the list does not say which is the stock tune. There's 4 1198s tunes. I've looked all over the site and there's no explantion.
