1098s fix up

Last year I low sided my 08 1098s and am now getting around to fixing it up to get back to riding.

Iím going to try and keep up and post updates of the fix up and if I run into any issues I can get some input from you guys.

So to start it off here are some pics of the bike after the crash. Sorry if the pics arenít the greatest I wasnít expecting to post this.

What Iíve done so far
- Pulled off all the fairings.
- Installed EVR CTS slipper clutch
- Installed woodcraft rearsets
- Replaced headlight holder
- Replaced battery

I still of a good amount of work cut out for me but Iíll update as I go and get some pics along the way as well.

If anyone has any ideas or words of wisdom as Iím doing all the work myself Iím always open to hearing them.

Sorry that you crashed. Bike looks like it was close to write off.

In any case, no need to post progress of your build. Most of us with 848/1x98 have done tons of our own work and know what to do. There is already tons of content on this forum. Search.

Know if you are doing a full engine rebuild, THAT would be worth documenting, including degreeing cams and so on.

Might want to lighten up a little bit there. Seems a bit harsh, IMHO.

Yeah itís not like I asked a specific question about something so no need to throw ďsearchĒ in my face. Iím well aware how the search function works. Thanks.

Sorry Iím not doing a motor rebuild but nonetheless what Iím doing is quite a bit of work and I thought it would be cool to share my progress.

Maybe I came to the wrong forum where everyone is pros and everything has been covered already so no need to start new discussions. Ffs

Since the right handlebar was broken off I got a set of Heli Bars and got them on today.

Iíll get a better picture tomorrow when itís daylight.

The throttle bracket is cracked so I ordered a rev2 throttle kit and should be here in a few days. Threw on the left pro grip and Strada Racing bar end which look nice.

I think the dampener mount on the frame is bent as you can see a little bit of paint that is cracked. Kinda sucks and I donít know if I can keep the dampener on with it like that.

Still need to mess with the instruments on the bars to get them perfect but I like how the Heli Bars are positioned.

Tomorrow Iíll take the rear wheel to the shop to put on my Dunlop Q4 that I have in the garage.

Got the rev 2 throttle kit installed.

Having the toughest time getting the air box back in.
When I try to wiggle it into place it keeps knocking off the clamp on the front boot.

I even tried putting the clamp on after but thatís not going to work canít get it to reconnect.

Taking a break and will try again later.

Yeah not fun!!

Finally did get it to go back on.

Had to put the clamp loose around the air box and bring it down after I got it seated.

Figured if I stepped away from it for a minute I would get it on.
