How fast will it be!!!

Is there anyone that has riden the ten98 that has come off of a late model liter I4? I just sold my 2006 Gixxer 1K, so I don't know what to expect from this big a$$ L-twin. Will it be a sub 10 second bike? I ordered my 1098 first of the month for a couple of reasons..One, it's sexy as hell and two, I'm getting a bit older and wanted to splurge on the finer things in life. I know I am going to compare it to my old gixxer as far as flat out brute speed. So, if some one out there has had the chance to ride the wheels off of a 1098 and been able to give a fair comparison to a japanese liter bike...let me know your thoughts. Regardless I know I'll be happy with this machine

read the "top end speed" thread here.

It'll tap the rev limiter in 6th...

I've traded in my F4-1000R for the 1098S. And before the MV I owned a Gixxer 1000K5.

The 1098 feels as fast as my K5.

Trust me on this one: it will never hit the rev limiter in 6th with stock gearing and that kind of poor aerodynamics.

Man,

what the fuck is your problem?

After my first testride on the 1098 I found out that it actually has poor aerodynamics. And then I did post that it would never hit its rev limiter in 6th.

But since that day I've actually broke in the engine and flatted it out.

I've posted on anther 1098 board that I was wrong about it's topspeed and that it actually hits the rev limiter in 6th. And I mentioned it here.

So tell me, really: What is your problem? Are you just frustrated because you have to wait for your 1098 or what?

Pull them boxershorts out of your arse and be a man, instead of posting like a frustrated lil' kid.

Is Desmolight the Ducati Importer in Kuwait? Or he works for them or something.

By the way, Pete, I love your posts. It's good to see at least one person riding the 1098 the way it was intended to be ridden and then writing about it.

I love Ducati and you certainly also but your first post with me was " Some people see a bike at their dealer and read the specs in a brochure and think they know a bike. I'm bored by that kind'of posts..."
Don't be surprised if I care about the info that you provide to us. One day blue, the next day red !
I am not frustated and I don't have problems but I am "only" disappointed the way you spoke to me. I am happy with my 998S, F4 S, Brutale and Husqy 510.
I rode the 1098 (not enought), I like it and maybe I will get one but I don't know it enought for now to give GOOD and SERIOUS info. I listen, I read the others and I just have questions.
I am happy to share info and opinion but not the way you did.

Please, could you check your swingarm and tell me if the weldings are ok ?
We do not have enought 1098 here to compare. Tks

Welds are fine on mine too. I think Ducati could do a little better on the frame welding but if that 'not so great' welding contributes to the stable and compliant frame ride charactorisitics then i'm happy for them to continue doing it with a little italian sloppiness!
