Imbobilizer, Transponder

Hi friends,
The manual talks about the ignition keys having a chip inside that interfaces with a circuit on the bike providing a code when you start the bike, so that no other key, even if it fit, can start the bike. Do all 2007 1098's have this feature. The individual I bought the bike from says that the bike doesn't have this feature and that there is no chip in the keys. thanx...

It has a chip, the transponder ring under the ignition recognises the key chip, in some instances if you get water in the unit it won’t start or if you put a carbon cover on incorrectly it won’t start.

I glued my ring to the carbon fiber cover. Works great. I don’t need to get in there often, except to re-glue.
