Kill switch then key.

My first bike was a 996. I use to use the kill switch so the fan would stay on. Leave it on for a minute or two to take the edge off the heat then key to off.

Its just habit at this point...

you might want to post a new thread, seems the folks are still commenting on whether to use the kill switch or key to turn off their bike.

Which I read through this whole thread yesterday, and am definitely dumber for that.......

Yes I use the kill switch on my 1098S. It is my only way to shut the bike off since I have no key and I use the Woodcraft Keyswitch Elimination Harness.

Maybe they are not OEM bars. The OEM ones have little holes to set items in their recommended spot (roll pins go in). It will keep it from spinning. Two phillips screws will hold it down tight. No harm in not using stock bars, but you just need to tighten it down snug (I use aftermarket clipons and bars). You may have something wrong with the kill switch. $20 for an entire replacement one on eBay, just get another, plug it in and put it to rest.

$17.99 shipped

Kill switch, find neutral, dismount and back it into place. Then turn off key.
