The 848's are having the same issues with tank capacity. I always get the fuel light below 100mi and can go another 18-20 miles...

For sure 1198 until 2010 or 848 have trouble regarding range mileage but mine as an extended tank (18L) as it is the aluminium one. This extended tank is one of the reasons which leads me to buy this bike and I am a bit disapointed not to have the full capacity supposed.
My question redarding range or capacity is more for Corse Edtion owners ir 1198 2011 owners (even if I know they are few).

Almost without exception, on my '09 1198S I get 100 mi. till the reserve light comes on (without riding conservatively) and I have ridden another 30 mi. after that without running out of gas. I always just fill up to the bottom of the neck and do not rock the bike to get in more. I don't like to overfill because if I park the bike right after I fill up there will be a puddle of gas under the overflow tube in just a few minutes.

I also have the slip on kit which by the way I think it sucks, but the 100 miles I get is meant as street riding, not on the track.

Why does the Termi slip-on kit suck? If you don't mind me asking...

I'm an Arrow kind of guy, the Termi kit came with the bike and aside from being cool looking, I think is an overpriced, low quality, running like crap ECU POS. The kit you get in the store have a different mapping but the kit that comes with the Corse doesn't have the same mapping, making it running rich an so on. If I decide to keep the bike, I'll be looking to sell the kit to replace it with a full Arrow system, I know for sure the workmanship at least is not even in the same zip code of the Termis.

The point that everyone is trying to make here is that the tanks are not as large as advertised. Doesn't matter if corse or no corse, s or non s, r or non r. The fuel pumps which are in the tanks take up real estate.

Yeah, I've heard that before, but regarding the OLD Termis. So, I guess the NEW ones are pretty cheaply made as well... I have Akras and love them and bike runs great with them+stock ecu...

The OLD system was even worse, I had a full system on my 07 Tri. and it looked like a blind man had welded the pipes together, the pipe wall was soo thin that in few cases, (you might have come across the threads) the bottom pipe would split lenghtwise, that wouldn't happen to Akras, Arrows, Zard and so on, or at least I've never heard it ever did happen..

I would like to ask a question only to "La Rossa" and "Tewster2" as we have the same bike (Corse Edition).

Could you tell me what maximum fuel quantity (liter or gallons) you have already put in your tank when you have refilled it ?

Thank you.

I'll let the other take the lead, I usually set the tripometer when I fill it, at around 100 miles the light goes on, after that I rush to the gas station for a fill to the brim, I have no idea the liquid capacity I add, just happy to see the light disappear....

I didn't know that, thank you. I was wondering why my bike runs so lean. Pops quite a bit when slowing down. I was told the ecu might not have been set up right?
So there isn't anything I can do except get a new exhaust?

One thing you can do to get it to run better, put the DB killers back in, the mapping is made for a bike with those in even if it doesn't make much sense IMHO.
