Recommended Oil Weight for 1198 (not 1098)

Folks,

Can anyone confirm the Ducati specified oil weight for a (standard) 1198?

My Owners Manual states 15w50 for the 1198 but I have read on this forum (Changing Oil on 1198 Thread) that a forum member saw a Tech Bulletin stating that Ducati now recommends 10W40 for 1198/1098/848.

Also, the recommended weight for the 1098 is 10w40. Is anyone aware of the reason for the increase in oil weight (to 15w50) for engines with very similar specs?

Thanks in advance

To my understanding, and flamers aside, the 10W-40 should be for the 848/wet clutch while the 15W50 should be for the dry clutch, 1198.

Thats the info I pulled out of it. Although, your oil viscosity can be dependent on your application (race/track/city/highway/air conditions and quality) and ambient temps.

I've been using Mobil1 10w-40 with no problems.

Manual says 15w50 ....or any of the following depending on your temp range.

I also use Mobile1 4t racing 10w40 on all my bikes.
