848/1198 2 up issue?!

For all the owners of either of the two does any one have a 2 up issue?

I demoed an 848 evo with my gf and she was worried of flying over me under hard breaking.

PS: My previous bike was 08 r6 and she was fine with it.

Looking forward towards your responses.

Forget it. Either buy something else or get her a bike of her own. It'll be better in the long run.

+1

My wife rides, and has a monster 796 abs. We tried 2-up once on the 1198... we just laughed and took two bikes.

It doesn't work unless you're dating a ballerina midget - good luck getting what you want, lol!

My wife and I have gone on a couple of rides on my 1198. Definitely not comfortable for her, but doable. She wouldn't last more than 45minutes to an hour, though.

Under heavy breaking, she slides forward and almost down into the seat with me.

Carrying a passenger requires a different mindset. IMO. Don't put yourself into a position to need heavy braking, excessive leaning etc.

Two up riding on the 1198 is horrible. My wife is 4'11" and is horribly uncomfortable. I would also recommend you get her a bike and then ride as a pair.

My partner, well she does not mind being the pillion,
Obviously she finds it quite uncomfortable after a good hour , but so do I.
She does move around abit especially on the brakes going down hill, If she pushes herself against me it makes it easier for her but not for me,and going through the gears i tend to be a little bit less snappie so i dont throw her off.
Having her knees so high after a while can be a little sore on those pore legs.
In the end its her choice if she doesn't like it then dont come.
When we go for a ride we tend to stop at a pub for a beer after a couple she wont complain one bit when back on the bike and when I hit a bit of familiar road she will tap me on the side to go faster.
Every time I go for a ride now its ( can i come ) damn !!

Dont know why there is so many negative comments on 2 up.
I went on the back of a 848 on a Ducati club ride and we covered over 450km's and yes i was a little sore as my knee's are so high but still enjoyed it.
Dont see the problem but wouldn't want to cover those sort of distances every day on one though.
And for the record i also ride and i own a Monster.

My girly is 5'3" and hates it up there. Seat is small and hurts her after about 10 minutes of riding.

Seat too small, footrests too high, and too far forward, and the rider is too far forward and low to give a passenger any sense of security. Basically no fun for pillion or rider.
Why would you ruin a ride like that?
There are dozens of good two-up bikes - not that any bike is as good two-up as solo. I don't see the point of taking a passenger on an 848/1X98.
We do plenty of two-up miles on a Cagiva Elefant. Perfect. Big comfy seat, soft suspension, saddlebags. No worries.
Can't take a passenger on the 1098 now with the alloy subframe. At least that's my story..

you will compromise your suspension settings , unless they are still stock...The suspension was dialled into by my tech according to my weight plus full leathers..if you have them at stock ,.. you are not getting the full benefit of the bikes capabilities when you ride solo....I think 2 up is to dangerous on these bikes.. get a multistrada
