Shift-Tech! 1st impressions.

Well, this was my first experience with Shift Tech and it was great! Just as I had expected from all I have ever heard about dealing with Guido. I got my 1098 CF Front Fender and CF Chain Guard today. Parts both look great! Nicer than the DP stuff I have everywhere on my bike. Haven't mounted it yet, but am sure it will look good with all of the other DP CF I have. Fender and chain guard are seperated far enough from everything else that it shouldn't really matter anyway. Guido was great, helped answer all my questions when I called him, and was always on it with the e-mails, and tracking info. I highly recommend Shift Tech to anyone! Thanks Guido! I'll be getting more soon I'm sure!;)

Where did you find that screen? I didn't see a non-touring tinted screen from Ducati.....

natedogg75 July 2nd, 2008 11:57 AM

It's the stock windscreen! I painted it Simi-Flat Black from the inside to black it out. Doesn't glare from behind that way when your tucked, but looks glossy from the outside because it is painted on the inside of the plasctic. Tried a Powerbronze dark smoke stock profile, hated it. Tried a Puig DB dark smoke, better, but didn't like the DB on the duc. I like blacked out screens the best anyway, so I just stayed with this one.

Did you have it professionally done, or did you rattle can it? Looks fantastic

Krylon rattle can, sprayed on the inside of the screen. Just wash it really good with soap and water, tape off the front really well, get the surface to be sprayed free of any floating lint and dust, and spray 3-4 light coats until you get a good coverage. I've sprayed a few screens and they all come out looking really nice using this method. Thanks!

Natedogg, thinking I'm going to rip your underpainted screen idea. I like the look of it, but more importantly, I like the results of keeping glare off the gauges. Also appreciate the feedback on ST, I was looking at them for a few days and came across this post, makes my future purchase more comfortable. Thank you.

Glad I could help! Yes, paint away. I really like mine, and you retain stock fitment and profile that way too. I think you'll be happy with the result. Just be sure to tape off the front really well, and spray 3-4 light coats until you get good coverage on the underside. You'll be all set.

Shift Tech is great! I will be buying more from them in the future for sure. You should definitely go with them, you won't be sorry. Great quality and customer service.
