Radar Detectors

Just mounted a radar detector on my 1098... Works like a dream!!! The H.A.R.D. system flashes a red light in my helmet in front of my eye when the radar is going off... Just tested it out and it is perfect!!!

Got everything I needed from Radarbusters.com they even sell the wires to hard wire it to the battery.

What detector did you buy and how much$$ I see the HARD system costs $164.99. What was the total installed price?

How do you know how well it works? Got a friend that is a cop?

Way to go man. I have a Valentine One with the H.A.R.D. and I just can't fathom riding without it. Had V1's and laser jammers in all my vehicles. The last ticket I got was 26 years ago - in 1982 for "Energy Speed" (national 55mph speed limit).

I haven't seen 3 cops on a ride since I can't remember when!!!

It looks cool though. Maybe I should get one. My son is always busting my ass that I go to fast! Can you imagine a 22 year old telling his 50 year old dad that he goes to fast??

SOOOO What unit did you get????WHY??? And how much???

Come on!! GIVE

Looks really good. Can you show a pic of the mounting bracket, and is it hard wired?

When you detect a radar, do you switch it off, what happens? I thought the feds had the ability to detect detectors? They do here, and they are illegal.

Lots of cops here in Ohio... Detectors are legal here. The only two states that radar detectors are illegal are Virginia and Washington D.C.

Jammers are illegal in Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, and Washington D.C.

When it detects the radar from behind or in front the light flashes.. keeps flashing until you pass the target.. then the light stops flashing..

I already had the Passport 8500 for my car. I think it retails now for about 299. There are tons of reviews online and in magazines and seems there are three favorites... I have a friend with the Valentine and it works great as well.. I'm not an expert on radar dectectors... Just wanted to let everyone know how well the H.A.R.D. system works for the helmet.

Woops.. and yes it is hard wired to the battery... www.radarbusters.com also sells the wires to hook it to the battery.. If radarbusters is watching I think I should get some sort of discount

In CA the CHP sometimes uses LIDAR, for which I don't think a detector is on the market. Someone will probably prove me wrong. It was definitely being used when I went to Laguna for the MotoGP. My buddy and I were southbound in a small group about a mile from the junction of 156 and Highway One, and there was a LEO on the overpass pointing a LIDAR gun at us. Riders going the other way had been warning us since Moss Landing about them, but some squid on an R1 pulled past me. We got less than 100 yards on the other side of the overpass before a CHP BMW zipped down the offramp, weaved through the bikes and cars, and lit up his tail.

The CHP 'copters and fixed wing aircraft often use roadside timing marks painted on the shoulder. They fly among the road trace and pick out cars or packs moving faster than surrounding traffic. If you hit the marks sooner than the posted rate of speed, they radio back to ground units to pay you a visit.

I have Beltronics STI Driver in my car, here in VA detectors in general are illegal,
STI has 0 emissions there fore undetectable by radar detector detectors.
on bike I can't install such a unit because it will almost impossible to conceal
unless I get it hardwired and maybe placing the unit it self inside the front air vents
and just installation a small bulb in the LCD panel.

The STI Driver has a excellent Lidar detection too.
