Duki Walk of Shame

Well after two weeks of Ducati ownership, I finally pushed my first ducati.

My brand new (3 days old) 1098s left me stranded with the dreaded

5.2 Volt ERROR

I had to push my beloved duki 3 miles home. Roadside was going to take 2 hours to get to me.

I get home (nothing like people driving by and seeing you push a bad arse bike down the road) load up the bike and head to my shop.

At the shop this is what I see. Both of my new duki's getting worked on at the same time. At least my salesman took me out to lunch and they expidited my 1098s regulator fix.

Oh well, who ever said this was going to painless...

Raf

That sucks!!! So what caused the error?? Is it a known problem? I couldn't tell from the picture. What was the other bike you had in the shop??

A 2009 848 (600 mile service) and a 2008 1098s (3 days old, voltage regulator outtage)

Yes, the voltage regulator is a very well known problem. My stealership said that they are bursting at the seams with broken regulators.

Cblast, I have to hand it to you. You are pretty sharp.

I dont own a 1098, I own a 1098s !!!!

That S stands for "spensive". I paid for it so it goes with the numbers.

Oh, and since the fix, I think that it actually starts better and seems to run more smoothly. I wonder if it was running just off the battery before???
