1299 Panigale storage compartment's purpose?

Is the compartment under the seat (with the hatch that accesses the toolkit) meant for a specific Ducati accessory?

Pretty much all motorcycles have the under seat storage. It's for whatever you can fit in there!
Which is not a lot really Maybe a wallet, pack of smokes or keys.

It's *so* small, though, and oddly shaped (can't even fit the manual in there), I thought it might be for a Ducati-branded garage door opener, for example.

Yep, it's very small. I used to own an 848 EVO and it was only marginally bigger.
It's the same with almost all sport bikes....it's borderline useless!

If your talking about the small hatch you can open under the seat, that's where the plug in for the DDA is located.

Aha! That makes sense and explains the shape and size. Thanks!

This is where you keep your Ducati authorised tool kit.. the phone number of every dealer in your country.

Should be a small page for most.
