Buzzing relay/no power

I was out at the track the other day on my 998, rode all day no problem, and then when I went to leave, I turned on the bike, and it came on for a second, and went completely dead. No headlight, no nothing. Wouldnt bump start either. There are a few black box relays just to the left of the battery if you are looking at it head on. One of these is buzzing, so I tried switching the two of them, and the other one was buzzing when I plugged it into the same spot. For this reason, I think it's something a little more serious than just the simple relay, so I was wondering if anyone has any insight into this. Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Shaun

I had an issue like this, I found out it was because the relay is turning off and on so fast that it sound like it is buzzing. I had to replace a yellow relay by the battery box. You could also try checking to make sure your positive and negative cables are snug and the little white clip behind the stator relay, I think that what is. Is snug and has not fallen our or moved back. That would be on the right side of the battery as you look at it. The white clip is on the back of a round looking thing which I think is the stator relay. Hope this helps.

So it has something to do with the radiator fans. When I unplug one of the relays, the right fan buzzes a little bit but doesnt turn or do anything else. I have an aftermarket low temp fan switch that I disconnected, but that didnt do anything to help. I fiddled around for a while with unplugging the relays and whatnot, and got the headlight to come on twice, but when I tried to actually start the bike, the moment I pushed the button, headlight went out, and it went back to the buzzing relay. Any suggestions from anyone? Please?

So your battery is fully charged and all connections are solid?

Yep. This problem started immediately after a track day with a fully charged battery, and when I went to fire of the bike to ride off, boom. No power to anything, and the relay started clicking. This reinforces my thought it has something to do with the fans, as thats when they spin up real fast as you turn on the ignition.

Shaun,

Can you share if you ever got to the bottom of what the problem was? My 998 has done this exact same thing, including the fan turning when solenoid is removed.

Thanks,

Ben.
