Error code 34.0 Signal Panel Sensor

Hey folks. I'm very new on the forum here and I apologise if it's bad form to seek advice before contributing. But I'm in a bit of a bind.
So I have a 2004 999 and I have the EFI error code 34.0. As a result, the bike will switch on, prime up, starter will turn over, but the engine gives me nothing. When I first got the error code (at a petrol station) it started fine. Second time, the bike cut out at the lights and wouldn't start. It started again a couple of hours later. This last time it has happened, again at the lights, the bike will no longer start.
Has anyone experienced this, and if so, does it mean I've to replace the instrument panel? If I replace the instrument panel, do I have to change anything else with it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

try entering the enable code ( key card number) into the cluster or cycle the ignition with the red key. this resets communication between the cluster and ecu. from memory code 34 is comms issue cluster
