Shutdown/Starting issue

I have a 2005 999. On a recent short trip the engine shut down after about two miles and would not restart. Got the bike back home and wouldn't start for a few days. Then after about a week it started right up with now problems. Took it on a short ride and no issues.

Any ideas/advice? It has had it's 12k service and the bike has around 13k miles.

Thanks

Is the fuel pump priming when you switch the ignition on? If not, replace the fuel pump relay.
