Diavel Purchase

I have a 1199 and a Harley Ultra Classic. I was considering a ride between the two and really like the Diavel. I can get a left over 2013 Red Stripe for a great price - about $4,000 or $5,000 cheaper than a 2015 (I do not have unlimited funds).

I understand the dual spark, seat, headlight, etc. upgrades, but if I get the 2013 will I really be missing that much? Should I go for the 2013 or wait to get more $?

Thanks. Mike

Hi Mike,

As an owner of a 2013 model (Cromo), I may be a little biased. I would argue that in day to day, non competitive riding, you won't notice much of a difference. It's my understanding the Gen2's dual spark engine smooths out low RPM riding when you're in town but it's never bothered me that much.

If I were buying a Diavel now though, I would lean towards the 2015 (Gen2), but like you mentioned, your budget may force you towards the 2013. If that's the case, go with the 2013 and enjoy it!

Thanks Baron, I actually ordered the 2013 just a few hours before your reply. I got it with full warranty for $14,500 out the door. I'm pretty happy with that price - I see them going for more.

Awesome deal. ^^^How about asking them to take the HD on trade and save a bunch of cash, and save annually on insurance and upkeep -- that HD served its purpose IMO. Good Luck.

Sweet purchase/trade

Thanks.

The HD stays its great for traveling. Insurance is about $225 a year for full coverage.

I just purchased a 2015 Diavel Dark Stealth. As a Harley owner I am excited to get what might be the ultimate cruiser. I chose the 2015 over the 2016 because I saved $1100 and was told the two are the same bike. Should get it next week and can't wait.
