I'm dropping it off next week. This is an alarming sound. I'm too worried something could fail as a result of it mid-corner and I won't be around to tell them "Told Ya so!"

Their first reaction was basically, if something fails it'll be covered under warranty. I'm not accepting that anymore.

Hey man did you ever get this fixed? I watched your video and my sf848 with only 600 miles makes the same exact noise. Seems to come on once it warms up. Dealer heard it but said same thing if something goes wrong covered under warranty

Dropped it off at the dealer and explained to them I'm not comfortable riding it and risking my life on an inexplicable noise. They were cool about it and aren't charging me to figure out what it is. I'm just hoping I'll get it back before riding season. Haven't gotten any updates yet.

Verdict's in. The dealer had the engine apart to look for any abnormal indicators and found nothing. Ducati is even saying it's basically the nature of the beast and I shouldn't worry. So I guess I have to deal with the noise now. Not a fan of that. I'm going to look into the possibility of the dealer buying it back. It's pretty bad I can hear the noise sitting at a light even when I have headphones on.

At 23000 ks my 2011 diaval has started to make unsual noise near water pump , the noise is intermitent every 5 seconds at any rpm . Almost sounds like light metelic flickering noise that comes and goes . spag clutch may be !

What I'm learning is the first rule On buying a Ducati : before you put the money down have the dealer start it up and listen to the motor because you can tell a lot from a Ducati by the way it sounds

Nope. Never were able to pinpoint it. The outcome was that I pretty much had to live with it. Shortly after I traded it in because my dream bike (Pani S) showed up used at a HD dealer for stupid cheap. So we worked out a deal that made both sides happy.
