Potentially purchasing a 2014 Monster 1200 - What to look for

Hi everyone,
I am looking at used 2014 Monster 1200 base with 6k miles. Are there any known issues I need to look out for?

I realize its the 1st year of this bike so it makes me a bit nervous but I can't find any newer ones for sale in my price range.

1. I've heard of some stalling issues on the 2014. Is this still a concern?

2. Any recalls I need to know about?

3. I went through the maintenance guide and it seems belts / valves are not required till 18k miles. Thats great! Are people doing the service earlier for preventative measures?

4. Finally, is this bike suitable for riding 5-6 hours at a time? I cannot go this long on my R6 and former 1098. I'm 6'2" and 200lbs.

Thanks for all your help!

the 2014 monsters are all sorted - just check it's had all it's recall work carried out. The recall work was just software updates.

The dealership will do any recall for free so it's worth taking it for a check up.

a 2014 should have had a desmo service. this is a large expensive service that is due at either 18k or 5 years.
DarR likes this.

Thank you for the information. I will keep this in mind when negotiating a price.
