This may be an old thread but I just want to join the conversation. I'm currently using custom filtered earplugs from Big Ear and I suggest you check them out.

I've used Bose Quiet Comfort 20 for many years. They fit comfortably inside my helmet and make the experience much more pleasant. The earpiece/baffle comes in several sizes so one can wear them for hours on end without discomfort. They're ANR so that eliminates much of the wind and other ambient noise. Yes they're a little pricey but I use them both while riding and not. Having tried countless in-helmet and non-ANR solutions over the past 30 years, this is hands down the best I've found.

Could not agree with you more. Absolutely love them. In combination with a Fiio E12A. Music comes from my Zumo 395. Routed through the amp then through the Bose ear buds. Best ever. Before anybody complains you can still hear emergency vehicles.

That is what I use. I dont like the idea of combining music AND sound attenuation on the bike. One or the other. So plugs when blasting, music when stuck in traffic.

Plus the Sena is amazeballs on a group ride. I rarely use it for phone communication, I wont answer unless Im on-call or something. But for riding in a group its a game changer compared to hand signals.
