Caught the first of the CNN stories, Iran shot down plane. 3 hours later, retracted and plane had some kind of failure and was turning back when it went down......12 hours later, Iran wants to share black boxes and inspections to prove it's innocence …...next day, Iran "accidentally" shot it down with a couple of missiles.

HTF do you accidentally shoot down a commercial jet? Does Iran have a beer and cheese seeking missile that was hungry and not being watched over when it was stoned?

Sooner or later they may fact check themselves? Only thing they got right was a plane went down. When you claim it was aliens......Gotta find a way to block that station at work.

"HTF do you accidentally shoot down a commercial jet?"

Our memories are not perfect, are they?

The USS Vincennes did just that, 'accidentally' shoot down a passenger jet; in fact, an Iranian passenger jet.

We should contrast Iran’s mature handling of the disaster with the shoot-down of Iran Air Flight 655 in 1988 by a US warship in the Persian Gulf. All 290 people on board were killed when USS Vincennes, a guided-missile cruiser, fired off a surface-to-air warhead at the aircraft, claiming it had been mistaken for an enemy warplane. However, the Americans never formally apologized for the deaths.

After years of wrangling, the US paid out over $60 million in compensation to Iran under a ruling in 1996 by the International Court of Justice. Even then, Washington did not accept liability. “I will never apologize,” said former President HW Bush.

You two completely missed that....

That was back when we were testing goat and curd seeking missiles. They knew then that you couldn't leave those missiles hungry, but history does repeat!

Just so you don't feel left out, the US developed a Fosters and Vegemite seeking missile.....no worries though, nothing goes after that stuff!

Not sure how mature it is, but I do remember that was under Reagan's watch and the climate was a little different. The technology has come a long way but there was still no excuse for the launch. Air speed and size of radar picture alone ruled out any credible excuse. Somebody was button happy. Probably this time as well.

Now this is a genuine 'conspiracy theory':

Could one of Iran's foes - like the US or Isreal - hack into Iran's air defence system and make it appear that an aircraft is a threat when it is not?

Yeah....old knees. Too many steps up to the bathroom. Might be better just to wait a few more years suckin it up and just rip the top two floors off and make a rancher out of it.
