I'm running Michelin pilot power 3 on my 1098 and experiencing sliding while leaned over in sweeping turns , and it seems like the power pure 2ct I had on before performed better. I've played around with pressure which made it a little better but still a little scary. Anyone else running these tires and what are your thoughts. Thanks
I have been running Dunlop Q3s on my 848 and they are very comfortable. I use to race on many different Michelin tires with great comfort and success. My thought from looking at your picture is maybe try hanging off more, it looks like you're using the very edge but not the part where the grooves end. Just a thought if you don't hang off much.
I think you are right about me hanging off, I had one of the control riders say the same thing. I've heard really good things about the Q3'S and I may give them a try once I've worn these out. Thanks
No I'm not looking for amazing performance but I was expecting them to perform at least as well as the power pure 2ct that I had just taken off. These were supposed to be the upgraded replacement but oh well.
What pressures have you tried? I'm usually at 26-28 psi for both front and rear and they seem ok, though I liked the Q3s I had previously much better on my 1199. The only times I've noticed anything is in the colder AM sessions of my last track day. That being said I'm only bottom half of Intermediate so not that fast that I'm really pushing them.
General rule for tire pressure is you should see an increase of about 10% from cold to hot. Hot being measured in pit lane before you get off the bike, take off your gear, put it on stands, etc. it helps to have a second person helping with pressure. Ambient temp and track temp will also play a part.
My track season is just about done this year but I'll definitely keep trying different pressures , and also work on my body positioning . Can't wait for spring time to get here
