Hello all,

My bike is in the shop and they need to replace the steering head bearings due to rust.
Unfortunately lead time for any Ducati parts is 40 or more days in Brazil, so I’m looking for alternative parts which I may be able to procure locally.
Can anybody here recommend anything from personal experience?
Thanks and good rides to all.

If you have a local bearing supply company, you can take the old ones down and have them matched.

I know from my research on my 900SS project that you can get them from almost anywhere.

IIRC, they’re 26.2mm ID or somewhere thereabouts. Problem is, many bearing cross references list the inside diameter as 1 inch.

Apparently that can mean anywhere from 25mm to 25.8mm to 26.2mm. As such, I have a pile of useless bearings in my tool box.

One option you can try is MotoWheels. They sell the correct steering head bearings for a reasonable price.

I would try taper bearings like koyo or equal, go easy on the torque like on front car bearings, if need ad a grease jerk on the head like on harleys.
