I got an '08 848.. LOVE my bike... with 23k miles but for the past few months when I'm out on a ride, the dash and front lights just turn off completely so I have to pull over, turn it off and they come on again... but a few minutes of riding, it does it again... pretty randomly... the rear lights and brake lights work fine and the bike runs fine.. Has anybody experienced this, or know of someone that may have?

Thank you for your time!!!!

Agree 100%. Just went through this with my '10 848. Headlight on/off, backlighting on the display on/off, turn signals intermittant. Very annoying but amazingly simple plug and play fix. VR is tucked in right behind the battery. Once uncowled all you really need is a 5mm hex and the replacement regulator. Literally done in less than 30 minutes.

Put your bike in N and start it up, then toggle mode until you see the voltage displayed on your dash. Let it run a bit and watch... $20 says you'll see it jump from 14.0 or whatever it's normally at to something a lot higher immediately before the lights/dash flicker.;)

Mine did the same a few weeks back. Was advised to do the upgrade mod, a triumph (or similar) mosfet RR. Found one for a bike breaker on eBay for £12. Easy mod!
All you need is the RR and link cable. Runs miles cooler.

Hey all, just an update on the problem I had... I replaced the regulator and ran the bike for a few days in different conditions and it seemed to do the trick!!! lights have not gone out anymore but just once in a while, randomly, shuts off... which is way better than having your lights go out on a night ride :)

Thank you once again!!!!
