1098 Aust Delivery Pushed Back

Just heard a whisper that the delivery date for the Australians has been pushed back to May, does anyone know for sure? I hate waiting!!!! Last time I was waiting for the S2R I was told would arrive in Feb didn't get here until mid April, looks like the same is going to happen.

When I spoke to my dealer, he said there isn't a definite date on the arrival of the 1098s in the U.S. They are metro Detroit's larger Ducati dealer, and he doesn't even know when they are going to arrive. He speculates April-ish for sure, March for the wishful thinkers.

I'm really excited for the launch on February 9th, I just want them to ship already, why does Ducati do this to us!?

My dealer told me the s would arrive in January and the std would be here in Feb I got the last available bike he had as the were all sold within 24 hrs of release, and I had to settle for a std as they had sold all the s's. Unless I waited for the next batch to arrive gos knows when. I was lucky enough to see one yesterday albeit a broken one that was binned at eastern creek in a ducati organised ride day, I'm led to believe it will be WSB rider Steve Martians toy.

According to Ducati Adelaide I'm still getting mine in a couple of weeks. The next batch is due now in May. So if you didn't get an order in on the first lot you'd be waiting till then. I don't think there are any 1098 in the first shipment, just 1098S.

Got a ring from my dealer today and i'm first in line for the base model 1098 he said he has been pushed back a few weeks they are hoping to have the s models in by first week in feb or a least a few with the base models landing in aust on the 1st of march.

This is info from NF imports direct.

Here in UK I was informed that unless any dealers had a guaranteed name and deposit for each bike they order that would be all they would get. My dealer had to fax Ducati uk my details, address, telephone etc along with the order and he says that they are telephoning some customers to confirm that they have actually ordered a bike to make sure that the dealers are not just making names up to secure another bike ?

Thi so I was told is what everyone was meant to be doing but maybe Ducati USA or Ducati AUS is different ??

Sounds correct to me. S should arrive first week of Feb then base to follow few weeks after. Got my name on and S with the option to go to a base model if I choose.

This is so deja vu. I didn't get my 998 back in 2002 until Feb despite an early Jan delivery date!

Dealer Stories

I don’t pin my hopes to much to dealer dates. Any high demand first run vehicles I have bought you add 3-6 months easily. The dealers just you locked in and will tell you any story. The other downside is there are bigger markets than Australia that will get shipments filled before us. When I got my speed triple 1050 the dealer said the profit margin is bigger in Europe so they get preference

Frazer’s in Sydney told me in Dec if I had a deposit down I would get on of the 300 allotted to Australia that was to arrive Feb/March. The deposit got my name at the distributor. He said that the distributor had around 250 deposits at that time.

I put mine down this month (late Jan) as I waited till they announce the yellow and was waiting to see if Triumph was announcing the 1050 Daytonna. I got quoted a April/May delivery as the distributor is on 3 month cycle for orders.

I guy I work with has been told he has a 1-2 year wait on the Ferrari he ordered. Now that is called patience.

If you got quoted April/May for the standard or S version you must be on the 2nd batch unless your getting a tricolor which would be about mid april.

Spoke to dealer yesterday and he says production is on schedule for Aust. first shipments still due to arrive Jan-Feb, time will tell.

I put my name down for an S back in Dec.

I was told by frazers ( Paul ) that the S will arrive late Jan early feb. With the base to follow a few weeks later.

Called again this week to find out the latest ETA and now he's telling me that other buyers put there name on the as the bike was in production??? I was like WTF?... So seems I've lost my place for the first lot of S models...

Anyway I've changed my order to a base which hopefully I'll get by end of Feb. Want a base model anyway as I'm be getting the titanium termi's, clutch plate and cover. And need to decide on an alarm. Was going to get the Ducati alarm. But here there are better ones out there. Looking for alarms that will notify me of intrusion.. Anyone recommend? I hear the scorpion alarm is pretty good.
