How far do you get on a tank of gas in the city?
I know the tank is a fair bit smaller than on most bikes, but i thought it would do better than 100-120km/tank in the city.
does that sound right or should i bring it up with the dealer?

I've actually noticed that my 1098s does need pretty frequent stops for fuel too! I have made it from Portland, ME to Andover, MA on one tank (few!) which I did with my R6, but.. when I take it to work (partly city riding) -yeah, it does seem to need fuel more often.

Maybe someone should make a bigger tank? That's something I'd buy. :/

That seems right. A little better than I am doing.

104 miles before fuel light comes on. Took 2.8 gallons to fill up, which works out to 37 mpg.
That doesn't sound bad to me. I think I get about 100 or so on my 600.

good to know, because I thought my bike was running really rich. I get about 110 - 120miles before the fuel light comes up. It's about 3 gallons to fill up. I have the full termis on too.

With about 1500 miles on the clock, I see the low fuel light come on at 110 miles, +/- 5 miles. And I won't push it any more than 15-20 miles more before gassing up, else I'll be...well, pushing it!

bad mileage

I am a little concerned now. I am only getting about 90-95 miles before the light comes on. My 1098S has 1300 miles and a track day and it has not got any better. The light came on during a 30 minute session at Laguna Seca. My friends tell me I need to strap a gas can on the back for Sunday rides.

Are you filing up to the bottom of the white ring? An inch of so off the ring is a huge different and could easily account for the difference in "range" as opposed to mpg. Per the manual you fill to the ring. There is only 2.8-3 gallons from the reserve light to the ring so shorting yourself any gas will throw off your range.

I'm also avoiding shop and go traffic so if your idling in traffic your range will suffer.

I'm off to the track on Friday for some gentle running in so we'll se how she does mileage wise being on the boil.

also, are you fueling up while on the bike (not leaned over on the stand)? i find you can get more gas into the tank when the pike is perpendicular to the ground.

bad mileage

yea, I fill it to the ring or higher. This weekend I had to alter one of my standard riding loops because the fuel light came on at 85! Seriously I am going to carry another gallon or half gallon to make that loop. I guess the dealer should look at it.

It should be noted that between Kilometers and miles theres a big difference. Due my limited riding thus far, I guess that I'd make 100-120 Kilometers. For you be getting 110-120 miles, that translates to 176-192 Kilometers. Is that without using reserve because I'm not getting anywhere near that!

I think I'm going to have to purchase one of those liquid knap-sacks cyclists wear, use it for fuel and rig it up to top off my tank while riding!!

I didn't run that hard. I kept mostly under 6K RPM. That is without the reserve. My gas light came up yesterday when I had 109 miles.
