Place deposits on a 1098S. Waiting for end March delivery. waiting is like eternity.

anyway Singapore here! anyone else around this region...???
Mine should arrive around mid end March , for delivery April
1098S + Termi Slips on + Carbon rear Hugger + ......... if available
Gonna try to bring an "S" into Malaysia after buying/riding it this summer in the US. Way too expensive to buy through the dealership here. Hope I have the "pull" to get the thing through customs without getting raped.

Anybody with experience in this area is welcome to give suggestions....
dartmaul,
Lived in SG for a while. In Austin TX now. Are you getting your bike from Minerva or is it Mah's now? Phil that used to wrench there now is working at the local Duc dealership here.

How much in SGD are they asking for the 1098S there?
Yes! Minerva is still the dealer in Singapore and going strong.

Price here is expensive comparing to the rest of the world.

1098S goes for S$45 excludin COE n insurance.
How much is the "road tax" or whatever it is they are calling it now for a bike there. It looks like the 1098S will be going for around 150,000 MYR or approx. $41,000 US here in Malaysia.
Road Tax: S$190 for 6 month.
COE (certificate of entitlement): Approx S$1k.

Hmmm looks like a Ducati is very expensive in Msia. Its the Foreign Goods import tax i guess.
Another alternative is buy/register it in Singapore. Even if you have to send it to Spore for service its only a 3 hrs ride from KL.

my 2 cents.
If i'm not wrong the price between MYR 130k to 175k as I got the info from Duc dealer here, freaking pricey tho.

As much as I like the 1098, but couple of things still playing in my mind, which:
a. amount i willing to spend
b. versus BMW k1200s
c. not a track person, but once a week rider
d. pulleys, as review in the BIKE mag, the pulleys are made from plastic instead of steel like 916 & 999

Pls help...
Good morning ,

mine arrives today in the D Store , delivery next week because of official documents ...
let U know

take care
Wow! Congrats man!
Hi Tokyo1098S, i notice youve got a S4RS?
I had mine for 6 months. I sold it off for this 1098!

We got a delay over here in Spore. ETA on end May.
I have ordered a S, but i was told there will be a Tricolore in this shipment.
So i switch from a S to Tricolore instead.
same man

S4Rs will be sold back to the DS selling the 1098S . great guys , great price on the buy back . I was crying when signing for the SBK . I already miss my beloved S4Rs in Tokyo's Streets

so hard to wait
Thanks Dathmaul and boydf for the inputs. I think Singapore is a reasonable consideration price-wise considering the hassle and cost of bringing one over from the US. This thing had better pull my 122 kilo butt around like a herd of clydesdales if I am going to pay that much money.

You mean I would HAVE to get on my 1098 and actually ride it every 90 days or so....? Horrors! :)

Anybody out here have any experience yet using a 1098 as a daily-rider? I have used both a 999 and MH900E as daily riders (still have the MH). The 999 rendered my nards useless for any further procreation because of the heat, but the MH is pure joy even in traffic.

Just wondering because I don't care how impractical or collectible the bike is; if I own it I will be riding it a lot.
DELIVERY on SATURDAY ..............

I don t know if I will be one of the first to be delivered in Tokyo , but I will be the happiest and the most excited ..........

pictures to be followed of the 1098S in the world of Japanese bikes

nice week to all people still waiting all around the world
guys,

aftter reading couple of postings in this forum, kinda worried of getting 1098....engines stalled esp in US. How bout here in Asia.....?? If this going to happen, i'll be the next Mr Hulk, the bike not chep tho
Hi,

mine arrived last Friday , only 50 kms and stalled at least 10 times BUT only when Temp is higher at 85 degrees ......... nothing before

meaning , racing in Tokyo streets before 11 am is ok , after , you can face some mistakes in the traffic ; I have Termi slip-ons without Db Killers , ECU , air filters .............

It is too short test time to have a real idea

will keep you posted
Hello,

I'm new here at the forum and just saw this particular thread... I received delivery of my 1098S last April 1 (yep, April Fools Day) and I've been enjoying her ever since ~ was lucky enough to get the 1st 1098 in the country! I'm glad to say that I have never stalled once since I got her, maybe because mine is a EU version and not a US version??? Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

She's just finished her 1000km service as well as gotten a new vented clutch cover so I am now just beginning to enjoy the bike and can't wait for weekends to arrive!

Here's a picture of her before I installed the clutch cover.

Cheers!

I was from Singapore and reside in Canada the last 20 years. How much is the 1098S TC in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philipines ? .. it's approx C$34K in Toronto. Also, what's the duty importing used bikes in Singapore ?

Greetings!! I'm from the Philippines too! I live in the States now, but go back at least once a year. Where about do you live in Manila? When I'm there, I'm either in Green Hills or Quezon City.
I hope you got a slave cylinder for your bike. The traffic would be torture for your clutch hand. :) PM me anytime. :)

Converted, the cost of my bike (S model) would be U$27,659 all in. Yep I know, expensive as hell but I think we're still lucky as some European countries still pay higher prices.
