Does anyone knows if the 1098 mirror fits on older models? I'd like to replace my broken 998 mirror to this if possible specially because of the built in LED signal.

No, its a totally different system. Plus, the newer mirrors suck, they vibrate all to hell and are short. I much prefer the older style mirror on the 916 style bikes.
